The label gallery

4,800 matchbox labels from a century of small, loud art. Every plate the works ever cut, and many it never did.

The works kept every plate it ever cut. When rival makers folded, the family bought their archives at auction, partly from sentiment and partly, Hild admitted, from acquisitiveness. What hangs in the Striking Gallery is the result: swimmers, liners, racing cars, pantomime cows, and one hedgehog nobody will explain.
